Soldiers Sortie: Episode 1
Xu Sanduo initially was a shy village boy who never had confidence in himself. He used to be bullied by almost everyone in the small village he lived. Sanduo's father disappointed in him for being weak and made Sanduo through cursing and beating.
One day, Shi Gin, a non-commissioned officer from PLA, appeared in Sanduo's village as a recruiting officer. Sanduo's father is doing his best to pursue recruiting officer to accept Xu Sanduo into Army, being sure that the Army will secure Sanduo's future.

Soldiers Sortie: Episode 2
Under the sincere request by San-duo's father, Shi Gin accepted Sanduo into Army and to give him a chance. Shi Gin also recruited Cheng Cai. Xu Sanduo and Cheng Cai went to boot camp together where they undergo basic training. Xu Sanduo has hard time adjusting and quickly gets in the trouble.

Soldiers Sortie: Episode 3
Basic training is comming to its end and Xu Sanduo and Cheng Cai are discussing about possible reassignments to a good units. on the day of thier dispachment, thier hopes boths rise and fall as they are separeted into different units. Xu Sanduo arrives into big armoured infantry base, just to drive for another 5 hours until he reaches his new post, a guard barracks occupied by 4 extremely bored men.

Soldiers Sortie: Episode 4
Annoyed by bad performance review, squad commander is trying to reinstate some discipline and order in his unit, but to no effect. He gives up and even tries to pursue Sanduo to give in as well. But, on its own accord, Xu Sanduo stick to routine picked up in basic training, something that is frowned upon by his older and lazier comrades. They do their best to make him like they are, but Sanduo is a too simple to understand their motives and he starts to build a road.

Soldiers Sortie: Episode 5
Xu Sanduo goes to regimental HQ to visit a friend from his village, now a machine gunner in armoured company, and to buy flower seeds to decorate his road. His comrades in guard post hope that he will realize how meaningles their duty is, but Sanduo is not shaken upon his return. That motivates his Squad Commander to try and shape up his unit once again, but that does not come easy to other three soldiers.

During air defence excercise, Squad Commander Lao Mei gives a boasting speech. He keeps on drilling the three stooges in his squad, and somehow they turn around. They choose to help Xu Sanduo with his road, instead of playing endless games of cards. They even add something of their own to the road.
In light of their achivement, Lao Mei thinks deeply about his life in the Army. He does not see himself as a true soldier anymore and is thinking abour retirement. But, there is something else to be worried about, when a call comes down from regimental HQ...

Soldiers Sortie: Episode 8
On regimental commanders order, Xu Sandue is transfered from 3rd "Red" Company's Squad 5 to the top of the line 7th "Steel" Company. There he joins up with his comanders and comrades from bacis training, that are not all too happy to see hime, apart from Squad Commander that recruited him, and a guy form the same village.
Upon arrival, Xu Sanduo is instructed in glorious istory of 7th "Steel" Company, and a hard field and obstacle training follows shortly. He longs for old squad where he got accepted, as here he has to start from the scratch.

Soldiers Sortie: Episode 9
Squad Commander Shi Gin is trying to help Sanduo with his confidence, but Sanduo is overdoing with his gratitude. On the first exercise, they are exposed to the opponent force. Despite Maos best effort to cover for him, Sanduo admits steeling warm breakfast that gave away their heat signature.
While Company is preparing to return to the barracks, Sanduos former squaddies from guard post arrive to see him. But, his new company is already ashamed of Sanduo and they deny that he is among them. And Sanduao is too ashamed himself to voice himself. His new squad looses the flag for best squad. However, SQ Commander refuses to give up.

Soldiers Sortie: Episode 10
Despite Sanduo squashing his hand with a hammer, Squad Commander Shi Gin is as persistent character. Even his deputy joins up in effort to shape up Sanduo's confidence.
Xu Sanduo realizes that his commander could be thrown out of the Army because of him, and he takes upon him to do his best not to jeopardize their confidence. Meanwhile, training ground guard commander Lao Ma is leaving to retirement and all of his former soldiers are coming to salute him. On squad meeting, Shi Gin recommends Xu Sanduo for squad's award of excellent soldier.

Soldiers Sortie: Episode 11
Squaddies come forward to help Sanduo with his effort. He is pushing himself hard, but still lapses into old thinking that he can't do it. Squad Commander is trying to change that into "I can". Sanduo take it seriously.
During regimental review by commanding officers, Xu Sanduo answers all of his question correctly. But that is not enough for Company Commander Lao Gao who is mocking over Sandou's motion sickness. Shi Gin ensures that rolling over high bar will help remove motion sickness, on what Company Co blurbs that he will return them Excellent Squad Award if Sanduo can perform 50 rolls...

Soldiers Sortie: Episode 12
Maneuvers are taken very seriously. 7th Company is going against sneaky Blue force, whose night attack marks half of the Reds as dead. When Chengcai is taken out next day, Sanduo goes after the sniper that "killed" his fellow villager.
Less then an hour to go, Regiment Commander is not satisfied with their performance and very high loss rate. He receives a call that Blue commander whishes to see him immediately after the battle, and they have a competitive talk.
Sanduo captures the sniper, and it comes to be a high ranking officer in Blue force. On their return to HQ, he has a talk with Sanduo and offers him a transfer to his unit.

Soldiers Sortie: Episode 14
Sanduo is asked to read a report about his performance during Company's commanders meeting, but Co is not satisfied with his wording. Still he is informed that he is promoted to Deputy Squad commander! Meanwhile, former deputy, now Assistant Squad Commander Wu is missing his old friend dearly.
There is a newcomer in their squad, and there are talks about 7th company's reorganization - meaning disolvement. Delegation from regimental HQ is evaluating every action they take. Sanduo does not want to be a reason for retirement of yet another of his superiors, so he yields in every competition with Assistant Squad Commander Wu.
Chengcai get promoted in his new company, but soon he will proceed to a new commanding duty - training ground guard commander.

Soldiers Sortie: Episode 15
Reorganization comes harsh, with one third of company members gone. Remaining members are working hard to maintain their morale. Chengcai is bitter cos his opportunism fired back at him. A typo in regimental newspapers enrages Company commander.
Despite their dwindling numbers, last remaining members are performing traditional initiation for last newcomer, Ma Xiaoshuai.
Two of the last squad commanders are having an emotional talk.

Soldiers Sortie: Episode 16
Gao Cheng, Commander of now nonexistent 7th company is having a hard time coping with the fact that all of his men are gone forever. He is feeling alone and tries to engage Sanduo is some conversation while they are safekeeping empty barracks.
Although Sanduo is not keen to talk, he is doing his best to keep things in order, as if nothing has happened. Some of that spirit manages to rub on Gao Cheng. During dinner, an ex 7th Co member, now serving in regimental HQ, comes looking for Gao Cheng. He is needed in HQ, as there are orders for him from Divisional HQ.

Soldiers Sortie: Episode 17
Xu Sanduo is alone in old barracks, and bored to death. He spends his time cleaning, running, rolling over bar, and having pretend meetings. He cannot make up his mind, but this time he has to choose between promotion and keeping the same dull duty, or leaving the Army and going back home.
Sandou's dad come for a visit, trying to pursue Sanduo into leaving the Army, but Sanduo is reluctant to do so, and even more assured that he wants to stay. He asked Wu Liuyi for a help, but Wu is not willing to defend Sanduo, rather to make him defend for himself. But Sanduo's desperate face changes Wu's mind.

Soldiers Sortie: Episode 18
Sanduo receives his promotion, and still has no assignment. He tags along with former buddies, now in other companies. Their former Company commander, now a major, comes along to see Sanduo and Wu Liuyi. Liuyi performs rather badly cos of his injured back, overstressing himself in order to earn awards for his unit, and in memory of his old unit.
One day Sanduo gets jumped in the hallway. It is officer that he had captured in 7th Company's last exercise. He is probing Sanduo about his feelings as a safekeeper of an empty building. And he gives Sanduo hints that he may be tested soon, for a whole new assignment.

Soldiers Sortie: Episode 19
It's the second day of the test, and the last remaining soldiers, Sanduo, Liuyi and Chengcai among them, are so hungry they resort to eating raw mice meat. Some are eager to join Team A, but some are having second thoughts. Group gets ambushed, and one is to hungry to go on and gets disqualified.
Remaining are chased over wasteland. Another candidate collapses, while Chengcai prevents Sanduo from giving him his food. They leave behind collapsed comrade for medics to pick him up. Chengcai is most determined of them all to make it into the final three, regardless of the costs. Group is having hard time to orient themselves in non-distinctive environment, with no map and using only a army compass.

Soldiers Sortie: Episode 20
After separating from other remaining candidates, Sanduo, Chengcai i Liuyi have to pass the last obstacle in their test, a fortified platoon from Group A. Sanduo and Liuyi are flanking them by crossing the river, while Chengcai is covering them with his sniper rifle.
Sanduo and Liuyi attack Group A from rear. Sanduo get blinded during attack, and Liuyi sprang his ankle. Chengcai also brakes trough, while other group of candidates are attacking from another direction and is catching up with them. They have to hurry, cos only three candidates will be accepted, and Liuyi ankle is broken...

Soldiers Sortie: Episode 21
Xu Sanduo is spending his last night in former 7th Company building remembering all the good moments that he had while serving here. Next morning, new soldiers from another unit are going to occupy the building, and Sanduo is called to give a speech about glorious 7th "Steel" Company, and he does that in his recognizable style.
His new commanders takes him and Chengcai to a new training compound, flying in a helicopter, and are welcomed to a new dorm by a angry sounding officer who spares no effort to inform them about things that they are not allowed to do.

Soldiers Sortie: Episode 22
Trainees have just gotten into their beds, and they are already called for assembly. While drill instructor is deducting points by a fistful, Sanduo is having hard time grasping that this drill is not about being friendly.
Day starts with exhausting 50 km running with logs on their backs, but they are driven by back trucks. For a reward, they get extra meal for a lunch. However, that is not enough for the trainees. They are all officers, apart from Sanduo and Chengcai, and are accustomed to a much better living, and far less effort.

Soldiers Sortie: Episode 23
Sanduo and Chengcai made it to trough the selection and were among few that were accepted into Team A. They are transferred to a new dorm, where each of them is assigned as a roommate to veteran Team member. Sanduo gets bunked with their drill master from the selection.
They immediately proceed with further training. Although they have passed the initial selection, all of them are constantly under scrutiny. Suddenly, they are called under Alert No 1, and brought to a briefing. There they watch uncensored report from a chemical factory that has just been taken over by group of bandits.

Soldiers Sortie: Episode 24
Performance of newcomers during recent exercise is evaluated by Team A commanders. Now that active ranks are once again worn, young major Wuzhe is keen to express his dissatisfaction with how things are run, about the team, and especially with drill master.
Sanduo's evaluation was very positive, although Sanduo himself does not see it like that. Chengcai failed. Even he realizes some of his mistakes, he has much to do to change himself because drill master is not satisfied with his self-centered character.

Soldiers Sortie: Episode 25
This time around it is not a drill, and they are replacing Armed Police in their search for drug smugglers. And, of all the days, its Sanduo 23rd birthday. Team waits in ambush, teasing each other over radio. Sanduo is sent to cover another position.
A large group of smugglers comes over the border. After a brief shootout, Team A gets few of them, but remaining retreat over the border. They retaliate with heavy weapons and fight continues deep into the night and following day.
